Made my way out of bed this morning. Pulled the cord on my room darkening window shade. Grey. It’s been grey skies all month. Rainy and cold, sometimes snow, with most day’s temperatures hovering just above or below freezing. It isn’t foggy today.

Head outside for a usual morning walk. Look up at the sky, it’s a shield of grey. Mist in the air, dampness sets into my core. Is this what it feels like in Vancouver or London? I hear it’s conducive to keeping a person in a foul mood.

A neighbourhood ice skating rink has been set up, but alas it’s only a soggy grass enclosure. The line from “Casey at the Bat” came to mind, “There is no joy in Mudville tonight.”

A lonely playground swing set. Tired looking snow beneath the grey painted structure. The grey tennis court backdropped by grey skies.

  2. Haha 😂 Feeling Icky is normal for January to begin with let alone the absence of at least having a blanket of clean white snow for snowshoeing or cross country skiing!! I feel for you cuz!😁
February is almost upon us, keep your chin up and of course feel grateful for that shade darkening!
    🙏

  3. We’ve finally got a respectable covering of snow here, and days with sunny skies, but the St John River (Wolastoq) has yet to freeze over, which is pretty well unheard of for the end of January.
